Feb 4, 2010 Devotions

This is a double day, because I missed my Bible reading yesterday.

Exodus 18:11  Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly he was above them.

Could this be a reference to the fact that God showed Himself strong by attacking the various gods of Egypt?  I.e., He showed His power over the sun god by the plague of darkness, etc.?  Moses had just finished rehearsing the Egyptian plagues to Jethro when Jethro made the statement in vs. 11.

Exodus 20
The children of Israel were blessed to have contact and communication with God through the persons of Moses first, and later the priest.  How much more blessed am I to have direct access to God as a believer-priest.

Hebrews 4:14-16  Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.  15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.  16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
